Cartagena Photo Journal

Cartagena: The very first stop on our Round the World journey! Man, did it set the bar high for every subsequent city! We loved Cartagena and all of Colombia so much. Here are some photos to highlight our time spent in this beautiful and historic city!

the walled city

The Yellow Clock Tower

amazing colorful streets…

some of the prettiest doors you’ve ever seen…

and some cool door knockers too.

the part of the wall that protected the coast from enemies invading from the caribbean sea.

bocagrande

First sunset of our RTW trip didn’t disappoint!

getsemani

amazing artwork.

and of course, more beautiful colors cartagena is famous for.

isla del pirata of the islas del rosario

Early morning on the hour long boat ride to the island.

the gorgeous blue water was worth the wait.

a little stand up paddle boarding before lunch.

manga

We ate a lot of stuff in Manga. Lots of cute restaurants, bars, bakeries, hang out spots, etc. But the only decent photo we managed to get was of these street hot dogs.

bosque – where we stayed

The Airbnb we stayed at which was about a 20 minute bus ride away from the famous Walled City area of Cartagena. The house was located in a neighborhood called Bosque, where we stayed with the owners of the house (a young Colombia couple) and other travelers like Kombi pa’l Norte!

spotted kitties and killer sunsets out our window.

some of our colombian junk food finds, authentic empanadas, and a home cooked meal, none complete without the best soda we tried around the world – postobon!
